Earth Grazing Fireball
We learned a new term today, an "Earth grazing fireball". Yes, this is a technical term. An Earth grazing fireball is an object, such as a meteor or comet, that enter the Earth's atmosphere and then exits again. Earth grazing fireballs are not very common, but there have been a few notable ones. In August 1972, there was the "Great Daylight Fireball". It entered the atmosphere around 2:30 pm over Utah and it left the atmosphere over Alberta, Canada. In October 1990, another Earth grazing fireball was seen over Czechoslovakia and Poland.
