The Largest Freshwater Lake in the World Is...
Do you know what lake contains 20% of the fresh surface water in the world? No, it is not Lake Superior or Lake Huron, but Lake Baikal. Lake Baikal not only contains the most fresh water, but it is also the deepest lake at an average depth of 2,442 feet. Lake Baikal is the oldest lake on Earth at 30 million years old. Kepler Found Two Earth-Size Planets
Today, NASA announced that the Kepler mission discovered, for the first time, two planets of similar size to Earth orbiting a star. Although of similar size, these two planets are not likely to harbor life as they are outside the "habitable zone". This means that they are too close to their sun for water to be present on the planets.
The planets are named Kepler 20-e and Kepler 20-f and are part of a 5-planet system called Kepler-20. The planets are orbiting a star that is slightly smaller and cooler than our sun.
